Melrose Street | Lake View

Prior to purchasing this home, the owners engaged my services to design an oasis that would evoke a sense of comfort and welcome. Drawing inspiration from their stay at Maison Métier in New Orleans, my objective was to integrate vibrant colors, ambient lighting, and an array of textures throughout the space.

In the front living room, the walls were color drenched in Narragansett Green by Benjamin Moore, wallpaper framing the built-ins by House of Hackney and the pièce de resistance, the reeded steel partitions by Crystalia Glass. The furnishings throughout were thoughtfully selected keeping both durability and comfort in mind.

Throughout the home, intricate wall moldings were added to bring character to the space. To keep the dining area clean and airy, wallpaper was added to the ceiling, anchoring the table below. Rich velvet, warm tones of wood and the texture of a jute rug completed the space.

The powder room was a moment to be bold. Drenched in Brinjal by Farrow & Ball, the space feels sophisticated and mysterious.

Keeping the cabinets and appliances, the cabinets were finished in Loggia by Sherwin Williams, as was the custom hood by Hoodsly. Continued throughout the space was the use of unlacquered brass, poised to patina over time into a rich and warm finish. For a touch of color, the sage pendant lights from Serena & Lilly were added above the peninsula. The family room and kitchen were complete with floor-to-ceiling drapery from Hunter Douglas in a rich brown hue, from Skyline Window Coverings.

This project began with a blank canvas, presenting significant potential for transformation. Originally constructed in 1997, the home initially lacked distinctive character and warmth. Today, the space has been thoughtfully designed to accommodate a young family, offering inviting areas for relaxing by the fireplace, hosting dinner parties, and gathering around the kitchen island. It has been a privilege to contribute to bringing this vision to fruition.
